Imphal airport resembles ‘refugee camp’, press barred inside

IMPHAL: A large number of journalists, mostly from the national media, were barred from entering the main gate of Imphal airport at Sangaiprou here on Monday afternoon, reports K Sarojkumar Sharma.
A video taken inside the airport, which has been widely circulated on social media, shows many people, including women and children, sitting on the floor with their belongings and others lying down. The scene resembled a huge refugee camp. Unconfirmed reports said some of them “just moved frantically there without booking tickets” as a safe place considering the heavy security deployment.
