AHMEDABAD: A man and his son allegedly attacked the owner of an eatery in Maninagar because he was serving non-vegetarian food. Maninagar police registered a case of assault on Monday and are investigating the matter.
Ram Shernani, 40, a resident of Maninagar, said he runs an eatery in the area. In his complaint, Shernani said that at about 11pm on Sunday, he was closing his eatery when Mohit Tank and his son, Paran, came to him. They demanded to know why he was cooking and serving non-vegetarian food.
The Tanks also run an eatery in the same area. They threatened to get his hotel closed if he continued to serve non-vegetarian food. The duo were carrying metal rods. The Tanks allegedly pushed Shernani.
As he called out for help, the owners of shops nearby gathered and rescued him. While leaving, the duo threatened him saying they had contacts in the police and would get his eatery shut down. Shernani lodged a complaint on Monday.
