Minister of Women and Child Development and Social Welfare of West Bengal, Shashi Panja reacted to the ban on ‘The Kerala Story’ in the state on May 9. She said that it’s the decision of the CM to take such a decision if peace and law could be hampered by something. Speaking to ANI, she said, “The BJP just wants to divert people from the main issues like unemployment, inflation by raising religion. If a Chief Minister of a state feels that peace and order in the state could be hampered by something, he/she has the right to take a decision to prevent it. Why don’t they write about the article, ‘The Unheard Gujarat Story’? If there could be ‘The Kerala Story’ there should be ‘The Gujarat Story’ too. They objected a lot to the BBC documentary. This is not the responsibility but the state Government and the decision has been taken for the welfare of the people. This should be supported.”
