JAIPUR: A 25-year-old man beat up his 50-year-old father and then set him on fire at Birjasar village under Churu’s Sardarshahar police station area on Sunday. The father succumbed to burn injuries.

According to the police, Sonu Meghwal had dispute with his father. “Ever since his mother’s death, Sonu had become temperamental and would regularly fight with his father. On Sunday Sonu beat up Leeluram Meghwal with a baton and set him on fire,” said a senior police officer of Sardarshahar police station on Monday.
Even after setting his father on fire Sonu did not take him to a hospital, instead he sat beside Leeluram for some hours. “Later, he called up his cousin Devilal Meghwal and narrated the incident. The accused told his cousin that since his father would fight with him he killed him,” the officer added.
After the phone call all the relatives rushed to Leeluram’s house where they found the charred body on a cot. “The accused managed to flee. However, he has now been arrested. The murder seems to have was done in a fit of rage,” the officer added.
Police added that the deceased is survived by two sons and a married daughter. Police have registered a case under Section 302 of IPC and are planning to file an early charge-sheet.
