JMC-G councillor takes credit for recarpeting rd in Sanganer
Jaipur: With assembly elections expected to be held by this year-end, credit wars have already started among councillors, MLAs, MPs and leaders at block level of both Congress and BJP. In one such incident, a BJP councillor went ahead to inaugurate a decade-old barely 700 metre road on Sunday - two days after the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) completed repairing of the road.
On April 24, a group of 500 residents of Sanganer constituency led by councillor of ward 104 of JMC-Greater Arun Sharma, demonstrated at the JDA office. Following the protest, JDA started repairing the road next day. The work got over on Friday and on Sunday morning, Sharma with some BJP leaders and local residents organised a small function to inaugurate the road. This road connects Tonk Road and interiors of Shanti Vihar Colony, adjacent to Durgapura Bypass Road. Sharma also issued a press release announcing the inauguration ceremony.
“During our protest we had given a list of four roads of our ward that needed to be recarpeted. These roads were in a terrible condition since several years. The next day JDA started work on one of these roads and for the first time in 15 years the entire road was recarpeted. I decided to inaugurate it as it’s because of peoples’ movement that the road was repaired,” said Sharma, who is also the chairman of JMC-Greater.
JDA officials, however, refuted the claim that this road was ignored for last 15 years.
