The NIA launched raids across Jammu and Kashmir in connection with a Pakistan-backed terror conspiracy case.

The National Investigation Agency launched fresh raids at 16 locations across Jammu and Kashmir in a Pakistan-backed terror conspiracy case on Tuesday. The development came mere days after the federal agency conducted raids at 12 locations and seized incriminating material and digital devices in connection with the case. The probe agency has cracked down heavily against the newly-formed offshoots and affiliates of several major banned Pak-backed terror outfits in recent days.

The raids continued till late into the evening on Tuesday and were spread out across locations in Anantnag, Srinagar, Budgam, Shopian, Kulgam and Baramulla districts of Kashmir, as well as in Poonch, Rajouri and Kishtwar districts. It was part of the agency's probe into  investigations into the activities of overground workers and cadres in support of these new terror outfits.

The case pertains to the hatching of a conspiracy and plans by proscribed terrorist organisations to execute violent terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir with sticky bombs, improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and small arms.

The NIA has been investigating the activities of newly floated terrorist groups, such as The Resistance Front, United Liberation Front Jammu & Kashmir, Mujahideen Gazwat-ul-Hind, Jammu & Kashmir Freedom Fighters, Kashmir Tigers and PAAF.

According to an official communique, Pakistan-based operatives were also found to be using drones to deliver weapons, bombs, drugs etc to their workers in the Kashmir valley.

Officials said the terrorist outfits involved in the conspiracy were Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, Al-Badr and Al-Qaeda, besides their offshoots such as The Resistance Front, United Liberation Front Jammu and Kashmir, Mujahideen Gazwat-ul-Hind, Jammu and Kashmir Freedom Fighters, Kashmir Tigers, and People's Anti-Fascist Front.
