Amritsar: Six people were injured in a minor blast in the Heritage Street near the Golden Temple past Saturday midnight, leading to panic in the area. However, police said it was not a terror attack, but an accident.
The injuries were caused by the flying shards of window panes of nearby buildings that shattered due to the impact of the blast. Amritsar police commissioner Naunihal Singh tweeted: “Investigations are on to establish the facts of the incidents and there is no need to panic. Urge citizens to maintain peace and harmony, advise all to fact check before sharing.”
Unconfirmed reports suggest that the blast occurred in a kitchen chimney but sources did not rule out “mischief”.
