Ex-worker arrested for stealing iPhones in Chennai

CHENNAI: Tirumangalam police arrested a 28-year-old man for stealing seven iPhones from a shopping complex. The suspect, Afsar Basha of Kodungaiyur, was previously working at the Apple showroom in the complex before quitting the job two months ago, said police.
The incident happened on April 28 when M Mari of Tiruverkadu, a courier delivery executive, reached the complex with three parcels each containing seven iPhones.
Since the showroom was locked, he kept the parcels at the shutter and went looking for the workers in the showroom. When he returned a few minutes later, he found one parcel missing. Based on his complaint, Tirumangalam police registered a case and secured the suspect with the help of CCTV footage. He was remanded in judicial custody. Five mobile phones and ₹1.6 lakh in cash were seized from him.
