Man breaks open ATM unit in Thane, held

THANE: A 20-year-old sweeper was arrested for allegedly trying to break open an ATM unit at Wagle estate on Sunday morning, the Thane police said.
The police said the bank staff spotted the accused on the CCTV surveillance monitor. The man seemed to be under the influence of alcohol and was seen loitering inside the ATM cubicle at Wagle estate.
However, after the man started pulling the ATM cash chest, the staff immediately alerted the shrinagar police whose staff reached the spot in five minutes and arrested the man under relevant sections of the IPC, said senior inspector Kiran Kabadi at the Shrinagar police station.
