PANAJI: With a Delhi court saying that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) failed to provide evidence of kickbacks while granting bail to two of the accused, the Aam Aadmi Party in Goa demanded an apology from the BJP.
The party, which has two legislators in Goa, said that the BJP has fabricated the Delhi liquor scam in a bid to malign AAP and Delhi chief minister
Arvind Kejriwal.
“This scam is a lie manufactured by the BJP. This is not a scam but a rumour created in the BJP office using fake evidence, threats and other tactics. And this is what the ED and CBI has done in the last six months,” said AAP’s vice president for Goa Valmiki Naik. “We now challenge the BJP to hold a press conference and admit that they lied and that they made a mistake.”
Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas also used the court order to attack central agencies for trying to intimidate party functionaries and election material suppliers. He claimed that ED and CBI officials were harassing suppliers and vendors in Goa to try and create evidence to show that AAP used Rs 100 crs received as kickbacks in Delhi to fund the election campaign in Goa.
“The court says it cannot believe that the case is genuine and this is a slap on the BJP’s face. The BJP is trying to fool and tell people lies about the AAP. The ED itself is now claiming that AAP spent just 19 cr in cash for the elections. From 100 crs they have come down to Rs 19 crs,” said Viegas.
The two described the Delhi liquor scam as a farce created by the BJP to intimidate AAP.
