NASHIK: The Jalgaon Government Medical College and Hospital has decided on a DNA test to clear the doubts of a parent who believes his newborn was changed with another baby in a mix-up at the hospital.
Dr Girish Thakur, the dean of the medical college, said the DNA test kit has already arrived, and the necessary samples will be collected and sent for analysis. The reports are likely to arrive in just over a week.
On May 2, two women - 20-year-old Suvarna Sonawane from Bhusaval, and Pratibha Bhil, also a 20-year-old, from Pachora - came to the hospital for their deliveries. Given the women's conditions, the doctors decided to perform cesarean sections in both cases. The deliveries were conducted one after the other, within a few minutes. While one woman had delivered a boy, in the other case, a girl was born.
