Two boys drown in village pond

Kanpur: Two minors who had gone to take bath in a pond in Ghuraupur village in Sajeti area of the district drowned after they slipped into deep water, on Sunday.
Police station in charge Pawan Kumar said Deepak, 17, and Ajeet, 15, residents of Ghuraupur had gone to the village pond to take bath along with other friends. Deepak and Ajeet went into the pond, while other friends were watching from a distance.
“Deepak and Ajeet slipped into the deep side of the pond and started drowning as their friends raised alarm,” said Kumar, adding, “People in the vicinity took the boys out of the pond and took them to Ghatampur Community Health Center, where they were declared dead. The bodies were sent for post mortem” Both the boys belonged to families of farmers.
