Vadodara: The district education officer (DEO) of Dahod was caught while accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh by the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) sleuths on Sunday.
Mayur Parekh had been given charge of the department after his predecessor was caught while taking a bribe worth Rs 10,000.
According to the complainant, he had sought transfer from Ratneshwar Ashram School to another school in Fatehpura taluka of Dahod.
He was given the transfer in October last year and Parekh had demanded Rs 5 lakh for it. The final amount was settled for Rs 4 lakh. The complainant had paid Rs 2 lakh to the accused.
Later, the complainant approached the ACB following which a trap was set on Sunday. When Parekh demanded Rs 1 lakh from the complainant, he was caught. Investigation was on.
