COIMBATORE: Tirupur district has secured the second place in the state in overall performance in the Class 12 state board examination. Coimbatore district has taken the fourth place.
The result of the exam was announced by the Tamil Nadu Directorate of Government Exams (TNDGE) on Monday morning.
According to official sources, Virudhunagar district secured the highest pass percentage of 97.85% in the state, followed by Tirupur with 97.79%, Perambalur with 97.59%, and Coimbatore with a pass percentage of 97.57%.
The number of boys who wrote the exam in Tirupur was 11,295. Of them, 10, 947 have passed. Similarly, 13,437 girls appeared for the exam, and 13,328 of them have cleared.
A total of 15,794 boys appeared for the public exam in Coimbatore. Of them, 15,228 passed. Out of 18,533 girls who wrote the exam, 18, 265 have passed.
Pass percentage of girls is more than that of boys in both the districts.
In Tirupur, boys secured a pass percentage of 96.92%, while girls got 98.52%. The pass percentage of boys in Coimbatore is 96.42% and girls is 98.55%.
Tirupur district topped the state in the performance of government schools index, securing the highest pass percentage at 96.45%.
As many as 8,863 students from 69 government schools appeared in the exam. Of them, 8,548 have passed.
Coimbatore came in the top 10, securing the ninth place.
As many as 9,013 government school students from 91 schools wrote the exam. Of them, 8,455 students had cleared the exam, with a pass percentage of 93.81%.
