Thiruvananthapuram: The state environment impact assessment authority (SEIAA) has directed all stakeholders to complete the proposed corporate environment responsibility (CER) activities of LuLu International Shopping Malls Pvt Ltd within one year. The firm has also been directed to submit the mandatory half-yearly compliance report including both physical and financial progress of its CER activities.
As per the CER plan approved by the SEIAA, 30 smart public toilets, including three pay-and-use women-friendly toilets with various amenities of international standards will come up at prime locations in the city.
SEIAA has directed that out of the proposed 30 smart public toilets at major junctions, the project proponent shall establish two or three pay-and-use women-friendly toilets with provisions for the supply of sanitary napkins, vending facility, incinerator, soap dispensers, mirrors, automatic hand drier, provisions for keeping handbags, dust bins, etc and a feeding cabin at prime locations like the Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station, KSRTC bus terminals, museum, zoo, etc.
The corporation has been directed to provide a litigation-free
space to establish and also arrange for their maintenance with the assistance of Kudumbashree or other agencies. The annual maintenance fund required shall be earmarked in the corporation budget, according to the minutes of the meeting.
As per the minutes of the SEIAA meeting, the secretary, of the corporation, will hand over the proposed project sites to the implementing agency selected by LuLu International Shopping Malls Pvt Ltd and provide the necessary amenities, including space for successful implementation of the activities.
