Jaipur: After an inspection at SMS Stadium, the fire committee of JMC-Greater found several discrepancies in fire safety measures and instructed officials to ensure proper facilities immediately. Paras Jain, chairperson of the fire committee, said fire extinguishers were not placed properly in the stadium, fire safety vehicles were placed at the wrong place, among other discrepancies.
“At the stadium, several small fire extinguishers are kept but there is no proper mechanism to use them. The fire truck and fire safety equipment are not placed properly at the stadium and in case of any accident, there is no proper arrangement to manage the situation. Inside the stadium kitchen, waste management is not in place and no hygiene is being followed,” said Jain.
During the inspection, committee members also pointed out that many electric walls and hoardings have been installed at the stadium, which can also be a safety hazard. “All the points that we found to be unsafe have been recorded with GPS tagging. If there are 40-50 spectators standing at the gallery of the stadium together, then it can break anytime. A joint team must be formed with members from fire, hoarding and license committee for regular inspection and a report must be submitted to the mayor and commissioner,” saidJain.
