    Pakistan's position at the top of the ICC ODI Rankings ended up being shortlived after they lost the fifth and final ODI versus New Zealand in Karachi on Sunday. Pakistan had become the number one ranked side after winning the fourth ODI for the very first time. However, New Zealand were superb and earned a consolation win, losing the series 4-1.

    NZ hammer Pakistan in the fifth ODI

    New Zealand managed 299/10 in 49.3 overs. Will Young played a solid game, scoring 87. Tom Latham also made a solid 59. Mark Chapman also showcased his strengths. For Pakistan, Shaheen Afridi claimed 3/46. In response, Ifthikar Ahmed's 94* wasn't enough as Pakistan lost the match by 47 runs. Henry Shipley was the pick of the bowlers for the Kiwis.

    Young slams a valiant 87-run knock

    Young scored his third ODI fifty. His knock was laced with eight fours and two sixes. He was finally dismissed by Shadab Khan. With this effort, Young has raced to 592 ODI runs at an average of 49.33. He has two tons and three fifties. Against Pakistan, Young has clobbered 240 runs from games at 48.00. He slammed his second ODI fifty versus Pakistan.

    Latham smashes his 20th ODI fifty

    NZ skipper Latham scored 59 from 58 balls, hitting five fours. He now has 3,703 runs at 35.07. He registered his 20th ODI fifty. In 24 ODIs versus Pakistan, Latham has 580 runs at 29.00. He clocked his fourth fifty.

    Key numbers for Shaheen, Shadab, and Ifthikar

    Shaheen picked 3/46 and now has 70 ODI scalps at 23.94. Meanwhile, Shadab Khan managed 2/67. He has raced to 73 ODI scalps for Pakistan. With the bat, Ifthikar scored a valiant 94*. His knock consisted of eight fours and two sixes. Ifthikar smashed his career-best ODI score. It was also his maiden ODI fifty.
