PANAJI: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Friday arrested two foreigners - one in Goa and another in Delhi - and seized 1kg of cocaine worth Rs 5 crore.
NCB's zonal director for Mumbai, Amit Ghawate, said that late on Wednesday night, a Kenyan person named Samuel was intercepted by customs officials at Goa International Airport, Dabolim. The officials suspected that Samuel was concealing "some non-metallic" substance, which showed up during baggage screening.
The information was conveyed to NCB officials, who reached Dabolim.
‘Nigerian held in Delhi after surveillance’
On searching his luggage, officials found cocaine in two packets, weighing a total of 1kg, concealed in a false bottom of his bag.
On investigation, officials learned that the seized consignment was to be delivered to someone in New Delhi. Immediately, NCB Goa planned a follow-up in coordination with NCB’s Delhi unit. “After continued intensive analysis and field surveillance for 24 hours, the main kingpin/receiver of the seized cocaine, a Nigerian national named James EC, was apprehended by the NCB in Delhi,” Ghawate said.
