Bihar: 5 cousins drown in Burhi Gandak in Begusarai district

BEGUSARAI: Five teenagers drowned while taking bath in Burhi Gandak river Begusarai district on Friday. They had come to attend a marriage ceremony of the daughter of one Dinesh Singh Chandravanshi in Bishnupur Ahok village under Sahebpur Kamal police station.
Bishnupur Ahok mukhiya Subodh Yadav said the deceased were cousins of the bride. "While having fun, one of them slipped deep into the river. The others tried to rescue him and all the five drowned," he said.
The deceased were identified as Abhishek Kumar (18), Kuldip Kumar (17), Aakash Kumar alias Risabh Kumar (19), Prince Kumar (17) and Utkarsh Kumar (17). While Aakash was a resident of Madhepura district, Prince and Utkarsh belonged to Munger district.
Balia SDM Rohit Kumar told TOI that two bodies had been fished out with the help of local divers and villagers till 4pm.
