Ramabanam is directed by Sriwas. Sakshyam was his most recent performance, which was back in 2018. On his return, the director selects a typical mass family entertainment film for Ramabanam. Anyone who has watched the Ramabanam trailer is aware of what to expect. It is clear from the opening frame that Sriwass fulfills his promise. The atmosphere at Ramabanam is dated from the get-go.

Everything about the movie, from the setting to the characters, screams of the commercial flicks that swept the box office more than ten years ago. Sriwass himself has built a career on these films. But in this case, the formula is invalid. The main problem with Ramabanam is the outdated way it presents the well-known story. Even now, numerous outmoded mass stories are produced, although an effort is made to modernize the presentation. Some difference is introduced for those typical mass fare, whether in the comedy, the setting, or the mass clashes. Even though there is a background that gives the scope, we do not notice that with Ramabanam.

Ramabanam simply goes through the motions, checking the predetermined boxes. The magnificent opening, the weak love story, the massive family drama setup, and the action's villains are all present and carefully perform their respective roles. But no feelings are ever experienced.  Similar mass cuisine has been attempted before by Sriwass, who generally succeeded. It was a long time ago, and it appears that the director's attitude was also affected by that time.
