King Charles III's Coronation Live Updates: Charles succeeded his mother Queen Elizabeth
Charles III was crowned as the monarch of Britain in a multi-faith coronation ceremony at the Westminster Abbey. Charles succeeded his mother Queen Elizabeth when she died last September and at 74, and became the oldest British monarch to have the 360-year-old St Edward's Crown placed on his head as he sits upon a 14th century throne at London's Westminster Abbey.
Watched by about 100 heads of state and dignitaries including US first lady Jill Biden, Charles follows 40 predecessors in being crowned at the abbey - which has staged all the country's coronations since William the Conqueror back in 1066.
His second wife Camilla, 75, was crowned queen during the two-hour ceremony which, while rooted in history, was an attempt to present a forward-looking monarchy and nation.
Here are the Highlights on King Charles's coronation:

Kohinoor Diamond Back In The Spotlight Ahead Of King Charles's Coronation
King Charles will be directed by the Archbishop of Canterbury to "punish and reform what is amiss, confirm what is in good order" at his upcoming coronation. This language is not just symbolic.
It's a contract between the monarch and the British people.
Throughout British history, that contract has often been illustrated through the Crown Jewels and other coronation regalia, which will play a key role in Charles's formal ascension to the British throne. Majesty, spectacle and celebrity have long been associated with the British Royal Family, and the Crown Jewels have traditionally enhanced each of these aspects.
King Charles III will be officially crowned today in a coronation ceremony in London. He acceded to the British throne after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, in September last year.
When Lambeth Palace envisioned a "chorus of millions" swearing their allegiance to Charles III and his "heirs and successors" at the coronation, it was doubtlessly intended as a patriotic ritual that would bring the nation together.

British Sikh Man, 90, To Present King Charles With Key Coronation Item
Lord Indarjit Singh is the British Sikh peer who hands over a key item of the regalia to King Charles III during his Coronation at Westminster Abbey in London on Saturday, symbolic of the multi-faith note being struck at the traditionally Christian ceremony.
The 90-year-old peer will form part of a procession of peers who walk up to the altar before handing over the Coronation Glove, which is a demonstration of the Sovereign as advocate and challenger for the protection and honour of the people. It also bears a second meaning, as a reminder of holding power, symbolised in the royal Sceptre, gently in a gloved hand.
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, who will officially represent India, reached London yesterday along with his wife Sudesh Dhankhar for the star-studded royal extravaganza.
Charles III will be crowned king today in Britain's biggest ceremonial event in seven decades. Thousands are expected to line the streets and millions will watch at home and across the globe.
