Boulder Valley School District officials said there will be extra security at Fairview High during pickup periods after a person displayed a gun during an incident on Tuesday.

According to Boulder police, a 22-year-old was arrested on suspicion of menacing and possession of a firearm on school grounds shortly after reportedly flashing a weapon while in traffic leaving the school.

Investigators said the person was there to pick up a student and was “aggravated” by the traffic. The person is now banned from the campus.

As a precaution, Boulder Valley and Fairview officials said extra security will be present during pickup periods for the rest of the school year.
