History-sheeter found murdered near Udayapatti

Salem: A history-sheeter, identified as K Ranjith Kumar, 38, of Masinaickenpatty area, was found murdered with hack injuries near Udayapatti in Salem district on Friday.
The Ammapet police were alerted of a man’s body spotted in a roadside pit near a Vediappan temple in Udayapatti. They retrieved the body from the spot and sent it to a government hospital for a postmortem.
The deceased’s identity was confirmed by his 32-year-old wife Priya. Preliminary inquiry revealed Ranjith Kumar had been out with his friends on Wednesday night and did not return home. A constable from the Ammapet police station said Priya lodged a police complaint the next day, following which a ‘man missing’ case was registered. Police said the reason behind the murder has not been ascertained yet. A case has been registered and further inquiry is on. TNN
