NEW DELHI: Snakes, bed bugs, rats and even birds - aircraft in flight have seen them all. Now, in a possible first, a woman was allegedly bitten by a scorpion during a flight, reports Saurabh Sinha. She was given medical attention immediately on arrival, taken to a hospital and was learnt to be doing well.
This incident occurred on
Air India's Nagpur-Mumbai flight (AI 630) on April 23, 2023, following which, sources said, a message was sent to Mumbai airport to be ready with a doctor so the flyer could be treated immediately on arrival. "The medical team at Mumbai airport attended to the woman. She was taken to a hospital and discharged later. She is doing well," said a source.
Earlier, a small live bird was found in the cockpit of a Gulf-India flight last July. Last December, a snake was found in the cargo hold of an Indian carrier's flight from Calicut to Dubai. Rats being sighted on planes is a common occurrence.
