Two critical after fire in glue pad making unit
Vadodara/ Anand: Two people suffered critical burn injuries in a fire that erupted at a glue pad factory in Vallabh Vidyanagar town adjoining Anand on Friday.
The factory makes glue pads that are used to trap rodents. The injured included the factory owner and worker. They were identified as Arjun Patel and Hasmukh Patel.
It took about an hour to douse the blaze that was triggered due to overheating of one of the drums containing chemicals.
“The workers were heating some chemicals in drums before starting the manufacturing process. One of them brought sand and threw it on the drum which spread the flames,” said Anand fire officer Darmesh Gor.
He added that the fire had started at around 9.45am.
The injured were under treatment at Karamsad-based Shree Krishna Hospital. Their condition was said to be critical.
