PRAYAGRAJ: The state government has reconstituted the judicial commission formed to investigate the murder of mafia-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf Ahmed, by adding two more members to it - former chief justices of the Allahabad and Jharkhand high courts, Justice Dilip Babasaheb Bhosale and Justice Virender Singh, respectively.
Justice Bhosale will head the commission while Justice Singh will be its vice-chairman.
On Friday, the five-member commission visited Prayagraj to conduct an investigation into the sensational double murder of Ahmed brothers at Colvin Hospital on April 15.
Initially, the government had constituted a three-member commission headed by retired judge AK Tripathi. The other members of the commission were Justice Arvind Kumar Tripathi (former judge of the Allahabad high court), retired IPS officer Subesh Kumar Singh and retired district judge Brijesh Kumar Soni.
The three-member commission had inspected the crime scene at Colvin Hospital on April 20.
On Friday, members of the commission visited Dhoomanganj police station and later reached Colvin Hospital to inspect the site where the double murder had taken place.
The members compiled all the details like the distance between the crime spot and the police jeep by which the Ansari brothers were brought to the hospital. They also interacted with the members of the SIT investigating the murder.
The panel members also sought details about the sequence of events from police officials on duty and inquired about the location and direction from where the shooters had reached the spot.
Adequate security arrangements were made in view of the visit . The entire area was cordoned off during the visit. ADG (Prayagraj zone) Bhanu Bhaskar and police commissioner Ramit Sharma were present with the members of the probe panel.
