NEW DELHI: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to commence over Andaman & Nicobar Islands during May 7-10 due to the influence of cyclonic circulation over Southeast Bay of
Bengal, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Friday.
It advised fishermen over southeast Bay of Bengal to return to safer places before Sunday and those over central Bay of Bengal to return before May 9.
The cyclonic circulation is likely to develop over southeast Bay of Bengal around Saturday and a low-pressure area is likely to form over the same region around Sunday.
The IMD predicted that the system that may concentrate into a depression is likely to intensify into a "cyclonic storm" while moving nearly northwards towards central Bay of Bengal.
"The system is under constant watch," said IMD.
