IDC-Connect aims to fix Sancoale infra
Vasco: As part of the ongoing ‘IDC-Connect’ programme, Goa Industrial Development Corporation’s officials visited the Sancoale industrial estate where they discussed ways to improve infrastructure and approval processes. The event aims to redress grievances of manufacturing units.
Industries minister Mauvin Godinho acknowledged a decrease in Sancoale’s industrial estates. “Security is of paramount importance. A secure wall has to be constructed,” he said. “We have to devise stringent measures to ensure the wall is built. The infrastructure has to be improved. The road in the industrial estate needs to be worked on.”
Godinho said that the construction of the road from BITS will increase the demand for the Sancoale industrial estate, leading to a positive change.
GIDC chairman Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco stated that the government is keen on addressing industry issues, including infrastructure problems, but expects positive results from the industries too. “Road and infrastructure have been neglected for many years,” Lourenco said. “But with the help of the chief minister and ministers, I have made it a point to focus on all these issues.”
The managing director of GIDC, Pravimal Abhishek, in his speech said that the department has been making efforts to resolve grievances and provide better services. “We have held meetings with unit holders and have started collaborating with other departments,” he said.
