Gurgaon reports 73 new Covid cases, positivity rate drops to 5%

GURGAON: The city recorded 73 new Covid cases and positivity dropped to 5% on Thursday. Since the cases started increasing in mid-March, the city's daily positivity rate touched a high of 18.43% on April 17. It was hovering within the 16%-band by April 22, thereafter gradually declining to 9% on April 28 and April 30 to 8%. Last time, the city had less than 5% was on March 31 (4.5%).
At present, there are 1,034 active cases out of which 20 patients are being treated in hospitals and the remaining 959 are recovering at home. On Thursday, 1,445 samples were collected for Covid tests.
While April reported 8,979 Covid cases, March had 584 cases. February saw 54 cases, January logged 40. Last year, December reported 46 cases, November recorded 191 cases, October had 613 cases, September saw 1,386 Covid infections in the city. August and July reported 10,414 and 5,695 cases respectively.
According to doctors, several patients are asymptomatic. Most are reporting fever, cough, fatigue, body ache, muscle pain, sore throat, chest pain, headaches, and shortness of breath.
Meanwhile, Haryana reported 229 new cases on Thursday, taking the state's active infection count to 1,922 with a positivity rate of 3.23%. On Thursday, the health authorities collected 6,263 samples for antigen and RT-PCR tests.
