Cops forced to reveal ‘missing’ man’s arrest after court order
Rajkot: In a huge embarrassment for the detection of crime branch (DCB), the investigation agency was forced to confess the arrest of a Rajasthan man, who was missing since March 9, only after the court’s intervention.
DCB showed Kishan Maru, accused of Rs 52 lakh cheating, as an accused on record after his wife moved the chief judicial magistrate’s court which issued a search warrant and asked the police inspector to remain present in the court on May 5.

Maru’s wife Jahal told the court she came to know that her missing husband was in DCB custody on May 3. She alleged that she was not allowed to meet him and said he was detained in Rajasthan. She also claimed that DCB cops did not inform her about the nature of the offence registered against him. Later, she lodged a missing persons’ report with the Malaviya Nagar police station.
On May 4, she moved the court which issued a search warrant under CrPC section 97 and directed the police inspector to produce Kishan in the court if he was in DCB custody.
When contacted, Yurajsinh Jadeja, police inspector of the crime branch said, “Kishan was arrested from Rajkot on May 4. An FIR was registered against the accused in Malaviya Nagar police station and the plice arresrted arrested him in connection with the offence.”
The crime branch also made public the copy of the FIR lodged against Kishan on March 12, three days after he went missing. He is accused of cheating in the business of used cars.
