Tamil Nadu records one Covid death; number of new cases declines

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu recorded yet another Covid-19 fatality on Sunday, bringing the overall death toll to 38,073. The victim was a 20-year-old male from Vellore, who had a seizure disorder. According to sources, he was admitted to a local private medical college and hospital with fever, and later passed away on Wednesday due to Covid-19, acute respiratory distress syndrome, and acute kidney injury.
The number of new infections in the state continued to decline, with only 174 people testing positive in the last 24 hours. Among the districts, Chennai and Coimbatore had the highest number of new cases with 38 and 30 cases, respectively. The active cases count in the state fell below the 2,000-mark, thanks to a brisk discharge rate. TNN
