Doc-turned-BJP candidate treats people on the campaign trail
Hubballi: BJP candidate Dr Kranti Kiran, who is contesting from Hubballi-Dharwad East (SC), is facing a new different challenge while campaigning. There is a direct fight between Congress candidate Prasad Abbayya and Dr Kiran.
BJP’s Dr Kiran, a neurosurgeon, is treating some patients and giving medical prescriptions during his campaign. People are aware that he is a doctor and those who are unwell are explaining their health problems and seeking remedies when Dr Kiran visits their areas for campaigning.
Dr Kiran told TOI, “I will start my door-to-door campaign from early morning. As I am a doctor, people are meeting me with their blood, scan and other reports to seek my suggestion and help.”
“In the last two-three weeks, I have treated many patients while campaigning at their doorstep. When I go to any area, some people approach me with their health issues. I have checked some patients who were suffering from nerve problems resulting in back pain, those who had suffered a stroke, liver and other issues,” he said.
“Though I keep requesting them that I don’t have enough time for campaigning, and ask them to visit my clinic, they don’t listen but request me to check their report. I have seen many reports and also prescribed some medicines. I am referring serious cases to specialist doctors personally too. Despite hectic campaigning, I am also sparing some time to treat patients,” he added.
“Considering their condition, I listen to their health issues and prescribe medicines while campaigning. Every day, I have been meeting four-five patients in each area during canvassing,” said Dr Kranti Kiran.
On Friday, a woman in Aralikatti Oni met Dr Kranti Kiran during his campaign and requested that he solve her nerve problems. He took some time to examine her reports and suggested some medicine.
