A man has been charged with the murder of a delivery driver hit by his own van and dragged a "considerable distance".

Mark Lang, 54, died at the Unversity Hospital of Wales on 15 April following the incident in the North Road area of Cathays on Tuesday, 28 March.

Christopher Elgafari, 31, from the Llanrumney area of Cardiff, is due to appear at Cardiff Magistrates' Court today and was previously charged with attempted murder.

South Wales Police received reports just after midday on 28 March of a driver failing to stop at a road traffic collision on North Road.

The force says the van was a delivery vehicle which was allegedly stolen from nearby Laytonia Avenue while Mr Lang was delivering parcels on the street.

Police say the van collided with the owner who was carried "for a considerable distance" by the vehicle before it came to a halt.

Following Mr Lang's death last month, his family paid tribute to a "good man, with a lot of love to give".

They thanked the emergency services "who did their best to bring him back to us".

"We've been inundated with nice words and if we noticed it we spoke to him about it," they said in a statement released after his death.

"Assume he was aware of your kind words and very happy to hear them. Mark was a good man, with a lot of love to give. He passed in the early hours of the morning surrounded by family. Peacefully. Comfortably. Loved

"He will be sorely missed."

Police say Mr Lang's family have been updated and are being supported by a family liaison officer.
