Fourth edition of Goenchem Fest held
PANAJI: In an ode to the forgotten flavours that evoke nostalgia and throw focus on the lost recipes of Goa, the fourth edition of the Goenchem Fest (Festival of Goa) was recently held at the Hilton Goa Resort, Saipem.
Curated by food and culinary experts from the Goan Culinary Club, the Goan inspired gourmet menu featured items that are no longer easily available in restaurants across Goa against the backdrop of lively traditional Goan music and cultural performances.
“The Goenchem Fest is an attempt to take people down memory lane through a culinary journey in a modern avatar. We have also sourced out several traditional recipes that are rarely found and given some of them a vegan approach,” said co-founder, Goa Culinary Club, Odette Mascarenhas.
About 18-20 counters served delectable Goan savouries like rissois, raw banana cutlets, poie pockets as well as fusion desserts such as bread pudding made from kakon (bangle bread) and nachnem (millet) dodol.
“Goa has been known for its culinary delights however the Goenchem Fest served as an opportunity to not only showcase the forgotten recipes but also the culinary talent that Goa has, by being Goan at heart,” said Amandeep Singh Grover, the general manager at Hilton Goa Resort, Saipem.
