Showers, hailstorms to continue in Rajasthan

JAIPUR: Showers, dust storms and hailstorm were witnessed at some places in Bikaner and Jodhpur divisions while in rest of the state partially cloudy conditions were witnessed on Thursday.
Due to the showers, mercury took a dip and average minimum temperatures in the state were almost 10 degrees below normal.
Barmer was the hottest in the state where a maximum of 39.4°C was recorded, Met reports said.
Showers and dust storm will continue at some parts in the state till May 6 and thereafter mercury will take an upward swing, Met office said.
People in Jaipur woke up to another pleasant morning with a minimum temperature of 19.8°C, almost 5.3 degrees below normal. It was followed by a cloudy afternoon with a maximum temperature of 32.7°C, 7.2 degrees below normal. In the evening, chilly winds were witnessed in and around Jaipur. In the coming days, except some scattered rainfall on the outskirts of Jaipur, the weather would mainly remain dry.
Met office further stated that so far the days of May have been chilly in this season. “Usually in the first week of May, an average maximum temperature of 42°C is recorded in Jaipur. But so far, the average maximum temperature has been 32.5°C,” said an officer.
