Despite heavy rainfall causing potential issues on the roads, the U.K. is set to continue experiencing warm weather in the lead-up to King Charles’ Coronation weekend.

Much of the country will experience a mild start to the weekend, with murky conditions and heavy rain in the northwest of England, southwest of Scotland, and Northern Ireland.

The U.K. is losing high pressure and is being replaced by low pressure, which will bring wet weather across the majority of the country.

The weather front will move northwards and ease off as it passes through Scotland, but pockets of heavy rain are expected across the rest of the U.K. Met Office meteorologist Alex Deakin has warned of slow-moving and intense downpours, with the possibility of thunder and hail on the northeast coastline.

However, there will be brighter spells and some sunshine in the afternoon, particularly in southern England, while the North Sea coast will be worst affected.

Despite potential travel disruptions, temperatures are expected to remain in the high teens across the country, with the southeast of England set to reach highs of 18 degree Celsius.

The heavy rainfall is expected to continue until the early hours of Saturday morning, until another weather front moves in from the southwest.

Clouds will gather and outbreaks of rain will trickle in, with the breeze starting to pick up again. This is the wet weather that is expected to spread northwards during Saturday, possibly causing further travel disruptions.
