A man in Bihar’s Saran district married the sister of his bride-to be after she threatened to commit suicide if he married her sister.

According to reports, the groom, identified as Rajesh Kumar, a resident of Chhapra, and the woman, Putul were having an affair. However, Kumar was engaged to be wed to Putul’s sister Rinku Kumari in Bihar’s Saran on May 2.

Reports said that as the groom was moving towards the bride’s house accompanied the wedding procession, he received a call from the bride’s sister, Putul Kumari, who threatened to kill herself by jumping off a building if Rajesh Kumar did not her marry her instead of her sister.

Other reports said that the bride and the groom had exchanged the wedding garlands at the mandap (wedding altar) when Putul called Rajesh and the marriage ceremony came to an abrubt halt.

On being questioned by the bride’s family and his own, Rajesh came clean and narrated the twisted love story to shocked guests and relatives. He revealed that Putul and him were in love with each other and wanted to get married. This led to an argument between the bride’s and groom’s families as mayhem ensued at the wedding ceremony leading to the police being called in by some guests at the function who feared something bad might happen.

Soon, officials from the nearby Manjhi police station arrived and convinced the families to sit down and figure out a solution instead of physically and verbally assaulting each other.

 Rajesh made another revelation as he told the families that he and Putul knew each before he got engaged to her sister Rinku.

He said that Putul would often visit Rajesh in Chhapra, where she had went for her intermediate exam at a college, and the two soon grew close during those meetings and would often talk on the phone for hours.

Rajesh revealed that he and Putul finally professed their love for each other, however, when his marriage to Rinku was fixed, Putul became so disturbed that she would either stop the wedding or commit suicide.

Ultimately, the families decided that it was best for all parties involved that Putul and Rajesh be married and thus came a befitting end to a bizarre yet familiar love story.

 A man in Bihar was reportedly issued a traffic challan for not wearing a seatbelt while riding his two-wheeler.

According to reports, Krishna Kumar Jha said he recently found out that he had been issued a challan for a traffic violation in Bihar’s Samastipur in 2020 and bizarrely enough, while checking the details, it was revealed that the Rs 1,000 fine was for not wearing a seatbelt on his Scooty in October 2020. Moreover, he found out that someone had already paid the fine.

Speaking to news agency PTI, Jha, who owns a Scooty (a scooterette), said that on April 27, while travelling in a train to Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi, he recieved text message on his phone, saying that a traffic challan of Rs 1,000 had been issued against him and upon checking the details, it mentioned that the fine was for not wearing a seatbelt.

On top of receiving the bizarre challan, it was also mentioned that someone had already deposited the fine.

Meanwhile, Bihar Traffic Police, while acknowledging the blooper, said that the challan which Jha had recieved was issued manually and they are currently convertingt all manual challans into e-challans.

A Bihar traffic police official said the Jha received the challan due to some error in the conversion process and its being checked where the error ocurred.

In a similar incident, in February this year, a man in Odisha was issued a challan of Rs 1,000 for not wearing seatbelt while riding his scooter.

As per reports, Abhisekh Kar, a resident of Rajgangpur, was fined Rs 1,000 for not wearing a seatbelt on his two-wheeler.

Speaking to Odisha TV, Kar said he found out later that the photo on the e-challan wasn’t his but of another person and later approached the local transport officials and the officials at Odisha’s Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to bring the error to their notice.

In a tragic and shocking incident, a distressed woman allegedly hanged her three minor kids and later died by suicide in a village of Magra area in Gaya district of Bihar, police said on Sunday.

According to a senior police official, the deceased woman, identified as Malti Devi, committed suicide after allegedly murdering her three children by hanging them.

Gaya City Superintendent of Police (SP), Himanshu, said that Malti Devi and her three kids were found dead on Saturday in the Magra police station area of Gaya.

The senior officer said that preliminary evidence suggests that prima facie, it’s a case of murder-suicide, in which the distressed mother, allegedly killed her children first and the died by suicide.

SP Himanshu said that as per initial investigation, Malti Devi was a victim of constant harassment by her husband and unfortunately resorted to take the extreme step to escape her misery.

He said that the bodies of the deceased woman and her kids have been sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.

The top cop said during investigation from the relatives of the deceased, it has come to fore that Malti Devi’s husband was the reason behind domestic tension in their household that led the distraught woman to kill her kids and commit suicide.

The relatives, he said, have also accused her husband of domestic violence and harassment, adding that the man has been detained and is being questioned by the police.

In a similar incident, on Thursday, a 34-year-old woman in Indore district of Madhya Pradesh committed suicide after reportedly being stopped from going to the beauty parlor by her husband.

As per the police, the incident occurred under Aerodrome police station limits in the city on Thursday, when the woman, identified as Reena Yadav, a resident of Scheme-51, hanged herself from the ceiling at her home after her husband, Balram Yadav, had reportedly refused to let her go to the beauty parlor.
