PANAJI: In a narcotics raid at Siolim, Anjuna police on Thursday arrested two persons — Suraj Pradeep Todi, 29, a native of Karnataka, and a Siolim resident — and seized LSD worth Rs 1 lakh.
Deputy superintendent of police (DySP) Jivba Dalvi said that Anjuna police received information that a drug dealer would arrive in a car at Udo Beach, Siolim, carrying drugs.
Accordingly, a team of police personnel in civil clothes was deployed, and after maintaining surveillance for a few hours, intercepted one car at the location.
Ten LSD papers worth Rs 1 lakh were recovered from the vehicle following a thorough search, police said.
“The preliminary spot test conducted on the papers confirmed for LSD,” said Dalvi.
Police took Todi and the Siolim resident, who was driving the car, into custody.
Dalvi said that the car used for transporting the narcotics has been seized by the police.
“Further interrogation of the accused revealed that the LSD was sold by Kalidas alias Kali Naik, a resident of Anjuna,” Dalvi said.
Accordingly, another team was formed and Anjuna police successfully arrested the accused. Police also said that Todi revealed one more name, and a search has been launched to nab the accused.
Naik has been remanded in 14 days judicial custody, while Todi has been remanded in four days police custody.
