How an avatar robot system won a german research group won $5M

Team NimbRo(opens in a new tab) of the University of Bonn(opens in a new tab) has won a $5M prize for their avatar robot system during the ANA Avatar XPRIZE(opens in a new tab) in Long Beach, California. The competition featured seventeen teams from ten different countries with the goal of developing robotic systems that people can use to virtually put themselves in another place.
