Cops recover arms, mobiles from home of Atiq Ahmed's lawyer in Allahabad

PRAYAGRAJ: Slain gangster-turned MP Atiq Ahmed's lawyer, Khan Saulat Hanif, has reportedly provided some vital information regarding the killing of lawyer Umesh Pal and his two gunners to police after he was taken into 12-hour custody remand on Wednesday. Sources said mobiles, documents and a weapon were also recovered from Khan's home.
Chief judicial magistrate of Prayagraj had on Tuesday granted a 12-hour remand of Khan Saulat to police.
During the remand period from 6am to 6pm on Wednesday, Saulat was taken to his house where the mobiles, documents and the weapon were recovered. At the end of the remand period, he was sent back to Naini central jail, where he has been lodged since being awarded life term along with Atiq in the Umesh Pal kidnapping case on March 28 this year by the MP-MLA court of Prayagraj.
It was alleged that Khan Saulat had shared the photos of Umesh Pal with the assailants and conspirators a few days before the killing.
