Varanasi: Addressing a public meeting in jailed ganglord-politician Mukhtar Ansari’s stronghold of Mau, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said “those who crippled law and order have now been confined to wheelchairs under the BJP regime”. This was in apparent reference to Mukhtar entering the jail on a wheelchair in the recent past.
In his whirlwind poll campaign, the CM addressed public meetings in Mau and Azamgarh for the second round of civic polls and appealed to people to vote for BJP candidates in order to add the third engine to the double engine government to ensure the best use of funds allocated by the Central and state government levels.
Appealing to the people of Mau, Yogi said that for overall development without any discrimination, a third engine is also necessary. The CM said: “This is the same district where Ramlila could not be organized, the district where the SP and BSP allowed these professional criminals and mafia to create chaos in their regimes. Since the double engine government assumed power in Uttar Pradesh, these professional criminals who brought Mau’s law and order on ‘wheelchairs’ during festivals could now be seen moving on wheelchairs.”
Lambasting the SP and BSP governments for “turning Ballia, the land of revolutions, into a land of curfew”, the CM said, “Instead of giving a pen in the hands of the youth, ‘licences’ were distributed to turn them into rioters and create chaos.”
