HDK: JD(S) will win 8 seats in Belagavi dist
Belagavi/ Koppal: Former CM and JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy on Wednesday campaigned for Maruti Astagi, the party candidate in Yamakanmardi. Astagi defected to the secular party after being denied a ticket by BJP.
During the campaign, the former CM said BJP and Congress have done compromise in politics for power in the state, and have forgotten moral politics.
Kumaraswamy expressed his confidence that JD(S) will win 6-8 constituencies out of 18 in Belagavi district.
Kumaraswamy recalled that he and JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda had started many programmes for the development of the district. “When I was the CM twice, I waived off farmers’ loans and gave preference to the clearance of sugarcane bill,” he claimed.
“All farmers, including sugarcane growers, are not getting a fair price. After 75 years of independence, the poverty of the farmers has not been eradicated, there is no job for the youth, the common people have been suffering due to price hikes, the governments have been looted under BJP and Congress rule,” Kumaraswamy alleged.
‘JD(S) is getting a good
response across state’
Kumaraswamy said: “JD(S) is strong as a regional party and will show its strength in the polls.”
Speaking to reporters in Koppal, he spoke on the Congress manifesto banning Bajrang Dal. “If there are mistakes in the organisation, they should be corrected. There is no need for Congress to talk about banning the organisation in manifesto.”
