Skill training for Vadodara jail inmates

Vadodara: Inmates of Vadodara central jail completed a skill development programme and were awarded certificates on Wednesday.
The skill development and training project was undertaken by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL). It lasted for 18 weeks.
A skill development centre was set up within the jail premises to impart training in courses such as technician, carpenter, painter, electrician and plumber. About 133 jail inmates were trained in sectors like automotive, electronics, paints and coatings, construction, handicrafts, carpets, plumbing, furniture and fittings, plumbing and apparel. Of them, 87 were awarded certificates.
The objective of the programme was to ensure that the inmates earn their livelihood after being released from the jail and it would also prevent them from committing crimes.
