2023 Louisville homicides: Man found shot in on Douglas Park
More than 100 homicides were reported in Louisville in each of the past three years. The city's first homicide of 2023 was reported on the first night of the year. On the second day of January, two other men were shot to death.
In 2022, Louisville Metro Police investigated 160 homicides, with other Jefferson County police departments investigating a handful of homicides as well.
LMPD and other departments have investigated at least 55 homicides so far in 2023.
The Courier Journal tracks homicides reported by LMPD and other local departments to memorialize victims, follow the cases and keep the public informed. Below is a list of homicides police have reported, with additional information about the cases and the response.

Adult man found dead on Douglas Park
An adult man was found dead May 4 after being shot near the 500 block of Douglas Park.
Officers responded to a shooting around 1:45 a.m. where they found two adult men who had been shot. One received fatal injuries while the other was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to Louisville Metro Police Department Spokesperson Dwight Mitchell.
There are no suspects, police said.
Adult man found dead in Jacobs neighborhood
A man was pronounced dead May 3 after being shot in the Jacobs neighborhood.
Around 1 p.m., Fourth Division officers responded to a call of a shooting at the 2400 block of Nichols View Court where they found a man with fatal injuries, according to Louisville Metro Police Department spokesperson Dwight Mitchell. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim has not been identified and no arrests have been made.
Jacky Joe Woodard
Jacky Joe Woodard died on April 28, two weeks after an assault in Louisville's Shawnee neighborhood.
Second Division officers responded to a call April 15 about a man down on the street in the 300 block of 42nd Street where they determined he was suffering from blunt force injuries, LMPD spokeswoman Alicia Smiley said. The man was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital where he died.
The Jefferson County Coroners Office identified the victim as Woodard and cited blunt force injuries as the cause of death.
Smiley said Tony Glasper was arrested April 16 in the case and was charged with first-degree assault. She said a murder charge is pending.
According to the arrest citation, Woodward was last seen getting into a car with Glasper, and Glasper told police he assaulted him with a tire iron. Officers found blood and a tire iron when they recovered the car.
Nathaniel Webster dies after stabbing in Russell neighborhood
A man was pronounced dead on April 28 after being stabbed in Louisville's Russell neighborhood.
First Division officers responded to a call about a stabbing at 10:30 a.m. on the 2600 block of West Market Street and found a man suffering from a stab wound, LMPD spokeswoman Alicia Smiley said. He was taken to University of Louisville Hospital and was pronounced dead that afternoon, she said.
The Jefferson County Coroners Office identified the victim as Nathaniel Webster and cited multiple sharp-force injuries as the cause of death.
Smiley said 36-year-old Tyrone Eugene was arrested and charged with one count of murder.
Surveillance video from the location where Webster was found showed Eugene stabbing and striking him multiple times. When he was taken to the Homicide office, he confessed to stabbing Webster.
Adult man found dead on Cypress Street
An adult man was found dead April 23 on the 1600 block of Cypress Street, according to Louisville Metro Police Department spokesperson Dwight Mitchell.
Around 8 a.m., officers responded to the report of a person down when they found that a man had been shot, Mitchell said.
The victim was later identified as Marcus Kyle Reid, 62.
Later on April 23, 31-year-old Antoine D. Roach was arrested and charged with murder and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon in connection with the case, LMPD said.
Dewayne Martin
An adult man was found dead on the scene April 20 in Russell, according to Louisville Metro Police Department spokesperson Dwight Mitchell.
Around 7:15 a.m., police responded to the call of a stabbing at 1635 Plymouth Court, where they found that Dewayne Martin had been stabbed, officials said.
Police said the incident appears to be domestic and that all parties have been accounted for.
Samantha Thompson
An adult woman died in the early morning at University of Louisville Hospital after she was found on the 400 block of North 25th Street with gunshot wounds, LMPD spokesperson Aaron Ellis said in a press release.
On April 18, LMPD officers responded to the call of a shooting around 2:40 a.m. when they found the victim. Emergency services was called to the scene, Ellis said.
The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified the victim as Samantha Thompson and said the cause of death was a gunshot wound.
Keionte’ L. Ramsey
An adult man was found dead on the scene in the 1000 block of Bardstown Road, according to a release from Alicia Smiley, a Louisville Metro Police Department spokesperson.
LMPD officers responded to a call of a shooting around 4:30 a.m. April 16 where they found 26-year-old Keionte’ L. Ramsey suffering from at least one gunshot wound, Smiley said. The man was taken to the University of Louisville Hospital in critical condition where he later died.
There have not been any arrests, Smiley said.
2 dead, 4 injured in Chickasaw Park mass shooting
Two people are dead and four are injured following a mass shooting in Chickasaw Park after someone fired shots into a crowd of hundreds April 15.
The Louisville Metro Police Department responded to the call of a shooting around 9 p.m. at Chickasaw Park on Southwestern Parkway, according to Alicia Smiley, an LMPD spokesperson.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found multiple people suffering from gunshot wounds, including two adult men who died. One adult woman and three adult men were transported to the University of Louisville Hospital.
Police have yet to determine a motive or suspect.
Saturday's shooting is the second mass shooting in Louisville in less than a week with the Chickasaw Park incident following a shooting at Old National Bank on Monday that left six people dead and several others injured.
2 men dead, a woman in surgery after shooting in Old Louisville
Two men died and a woman is in surgery after a shooting in Old Louisville on April 15.
Fourth Division officers responded to a call about a shooting before 4:30 a.m. in the 200 block of East Burnett and they found that three people had been shot, Alicia Smiley, Louisville Metro Police spokesperson, said. She said one of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another man and a woman were taken to the University of Louisville Hospital, where the man was pronounced dead. Smiley said on the morning of Sunday, April 16, that the woman's injuries appear to be non-life threatening.
The Homicide Unit is investigating if there is a connection between the three victims. Their identities were not released.
Two found dead: One on Mars Court; second at St. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital
Police found a man fatally shot April 13 at Louisville's Pleasure Ridge Park neighborhood, Louisville Metro Police said.
Third Division officers responded to a call about a shooting around 6 p.m. in the 5200 block of Mars Court and found a man who had been fatally shot, Alicia Smiley, Louisville Metro Police spokesperson said. She said the victim was not transported to the hospital. Police have not arrested anybody in connection to the shooting.
Smiley said after another shooting victim was taken to St. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital by private means, where they were pronounced dead.
Smiley said police don't know if there is a connection between the shootings. The identities of the victims have not been disclosed and authorities are still investigating the incident.
Man found dead on Kentucky Street
A man was found dead on the 200 block of East Kentucky Street after he received trauma to his body, said Aaron Ellis, a spokesperson for the Louisville Metro Police Department.
Officers responded to the call of a "man down inside a residence at that location" just before 10 a.m. April 11, when they found the man, Ellis said.
Police did not specify what kind of trauma the man endured.
There are no known suspects, Ellis said.
Chea’von Moore
A 24-year-old man killed in a shooting at Jefferson Community & Technical College was identified at Chea'von Moore.
The shooting took place on Monday, April 10, the same day as a mass shooting at the downtown branch of Old National Bank, at 8th and Chestnut Streets around 11 a.m. Old National Bank is about 1.5 miles from JCTC, and officials said the two shootings are unrelated.
Louisville Metro Police Maj. Russell Miller said multiple suspects could be involved as of April 12. There are no suspects, he said.
A second victim was injured and taken to the hospital.
Old National Bank: Tommy Elliott, Jim Tutt Jr., Josh Barrick, Juliana Farmer, Deana Eckert, shooter
Tommy Elliott, 63, Jim Tutt Jr., 64, Josh Barrick, 40, Juliana Farmer, 45, and Deana Eckert, 57, were the victims of a mass shooting that injured several others and resulted in the death of the shooter at the downtown Louisville branch of Old National Bank.
A gunman opened fire at 333 E. Main St. on April 10, and officials from the Louisville Metro Police Department said officers responded within about three minutes and that the shooter was dead within nine minutes of their response.
As of Thursday, April 13, six patients had been released from the University of Louisville Hospital, according to Heather Fountaine, media relations manager for the hospital. Two patients remained in care, including officer Nickolas Wilt, who remains in critical condition after a brain surgery performed last week. Another patient was in stable and fair condition, Fountaine said.
The shooter, Connor Sturgeon, was killed by police.
Theresa Thomas
An woman is dead after a shooting April 2 in the West End, according to Alicia Smiley, a spokesperson for Louisville Metro Police.
LMPD officers responded to the call of a shooting about 8:45 p.m. at 10th and Broadway where they found a woman who'd been shot inside a gas station, Smiley said.
Emergency services pronounced her dead on the scene, police said.
The woman who was killed was identified by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office as 44-year-old Theresa Thomas.
Martell D. Hall Jr.
A man was found dead April 1 after a shooting in Russell, according to Alicia Smiley, a spokesperson for the Louisville Metro Police Department.
LMPD responded to the call of a shooting at the 1900 block of West Broadway just before 7 p.m. where they located an adult male suffering from at least one gunshot wound inside a vehicle, Smiley said. Nineteen-year-old Martell D. Hall Jr. was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police said there have not been any arrests.
Teenager dead after shooting at 28th Street and Broadway
A teenager was found dead after a shooting Monday night, according to Aaron Ellis, a Louisville Metro Police Department spokesperson.
LMPD responded to the call of a shooting at 28th Street and Broadway around 8:30 p.m., where they found a male thought to be in his late teens suffering from gunshot wounds, Ellis said. He was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency services.
There are no known suspects, police said.
Woman dead after shooting in Russell neighborhood
One woman is dead after a shooting in the Russell neighborhood March 26, according to Dwight Mitchell, a spokesperson for the Louisville Metro Police Department.
At about 11:15 p.m., LMPD officers responded to the call of a shooting at the 2700 block of West Madison Street, where they found an adult man and adult woman whom had been shot. The woman was pronounced dead on the scene, and the man was taken to the University of Louisville Hospital, police said.
There are no suspects, police said.
Eric King Jr. and Hayley Meadors
Eric King Jr. and Hayley Meadors, both 25, are dead after a shooting in the Shawnee neighborhood March 25, according to Kimberly Smith, deputy coroner.
LMPD officers responded to the call of a shooting at the 100 block of North 38th Street about 5 p.m., where they found an adult male and and adult female with gunshot wounds. They were taken to the University of Louisville Hospital where they later died, LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said.
There are no suspects in custody, police said.
Woman dies after shooting in Airport Boulevard
A woman died March 24 after a shooting in Louisville's Airport Boulevard, Louisville Metro Police said.
LMPD Seventh Division officers responded to a call about a shooting at approximately 9 p.m. at the 6100 block of Airport Boulevard and found a woman who had been shot, LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said. He said the victim received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mitchell said the LMPD Homicide Unit is investigating and there are no suspects in custody.
The identity of the victim has not been released.
Man dies after assault in St. Dennis neighborhood
A man died on March 16 after being assaulted in Louisville's St. Dennis neighborhood, Louisville Metro Police said.
Second Division officers responded to a call about an assault after 11 p.m. in the 3800 block of Oboe Drive and found a man who "had been struck several times during the assault," LMPD spokesperson Alicia Smiley said. She said the victim was taken to the University of Louisville Hospital and pronounced dead. No additional details were released.
Smiley said there are no suspects and that the homicide unit is investigating the incident.
The victim has not been identified.
Teenager shot and killed on Tazwell Drive
A teenage male was found dead at the scene on March 14 after suffering from gunshot wounds, said Aaron Ellis, a spokesperson for the Louisville Metro Police.
Around 1:45 a.m., police responded to a call of a shooting at 11400 block of Tazwell Drive, Ellis said.
Emergency services was called, police said. There are no known suspects.
The teen was identified on March 15 as 16-year-old Antavious Roberts.
Woman found dead by I-65
LMPD's homicide unit is investigating after a woman who had been shot and killed was found in a grassy area by Interstate 65 North near Woodbine Street in the early morning hours of Feb. 25.
The Jefferson County Coroner's Office has not yet identified the woman who was killed.
Fatal shooting in Smoketown
Police are investigating a fatal shooting that killed a man on Feb. 24 in Smoketown.
Fourth Division officers took the call about the shooting in the 900 block of Waterman Alley at about 8 p.m. that night, the department said, and found an adult man who had been shot and was pronounced dead on the scene.
LMPD's homicide unit is investigating. No arrests have taken place.
The man who was killed has not yet been identified by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office.
Darionte Coleman
A 27-year-old man was found dead on Feb. 18 in Louisville's Bon Air neighborhood, Louisville Metro Police said.
Sixth Division officers responded to a call about a shooting in the 2300 block of Terrier Court approximately at 8:20 p.m. and found a man who had been shot several times, Louisville Metro Police spokesperson Alicia Smiley said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim was identified by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office as 27-year-old Darionte Coleman.
Smiley said 29-year-old Deterrius Brown was arrested in connection to the homicide following a police pursuit, according to court documents. Officers reportedly found a rifle in his car that matched with casings found at the scene and he later confessed to the killing while being questioned by police.
Brown now face a murder charge in relation to the shooting. It was unclear when he would appear in court.
Alonzo Palmer
A man died on Feb. 10 after a shooting on Louisville's Phoenix Hill neighborhood, Louisville Metro Police said.
First Division officers responded to a call about a shooting at 10:30 p.m. in the 600 block of East Muhammad Ali Boulevard and found a man who had been shot, LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said.
He said the victim was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital where he later died due to his injuries.
Mitchell said the homicide unit is investigating and there are not any suspects at the moment.
The Jefferson County Coroner's Office said on March 1 the victim was identified as 15-year-old Alonzo Palmer IV.
Christopher Adams
An "obviously deceased" body was found on West Jefferson Street, said Matthew Sanders, a spokesperson for Louisville Metro Police.
Police responded to a "call for service" to a home on the 2700 block of Jefferson St., in the Russell neighborhood, around 9 a.m. on Feb. 5, Sanders said. Police said "foul play is suspected."
David Alan Smith was arrested the same day by the department's homicide unit in connection with the murder, LMPD said in a release.
The victim was later identified by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office as Christopher Adams, 58. Multiple blunt and sharp force injuries were cited as the cause of death.
Zachee Imanitwitaho
A person was found shot to death Feb. 3 in the parking lot of the JBS Swift pork production facility located in the 1300 block of Story Avenue in Butchertown. Officers with the First Division responded about 3:18 p.m. to the reported shooting, according to LMPD.
The victim was a JBS employee, LMPD spokesman Matt Sanders said, adding "very preliminary information" indicates it may have been an "isolated incident" in the parking lot.
LMPD said Edilberto Reyes, 58, was arrested in connection with the case and turned himself in at Metro Corrections following the shooting.
"We are deeply saddened by the tragic death of one of our Louisville team members that took place outside of our facility this afternoon," Nikki Richardson, a spokeswoman for Colorado-based JBS USA, told The Courier Journal. "Our sincere condolences go out to the individual’s family and loved ones. We are assisting police with the ongoing investigation however we can."
The victim was later identified by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office as 26-year-old Imanitwitaho Zachee from Louisville.
Mark Lucas
LMPD is investigating after a man was killed on Feb. 2 in a shooting in St. Dennis.
Second Division officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the 3400 block of Buckeye Road at about 8:30 a.m. that morning, according to a statement from the department. Officers found a man who had been shot at the scene, who was pronounced dead by EMS officials who were called to the site.
The victim was identified by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office as 61-year-old Mark E. Lucas. The release said he died of gunshot wounds.
LMPD's homicide unit is handling the investigation.
Fatal shooting on Leverett Lane
A man who was shot on Jan. 31 in southwestern Louisville died two days later, according to LMPD.
Third Division officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 6700 block of Leverett Lane that afternoon just before 4 p.m., according to the department. A man who had been shot was taken to University of Louisville Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on Feb. 2.
The man who was killed has not yet been identified, and no suspects have been arrested.
Andrew Valdez
Police are investigating a fatal shooting reported Jan. 30 in Crescent Hill.
Fifth Division LMPD officers responded to a report of a shooting at about 5:30 p.m. that Monday afternoon in the 100 block of N. Birchwood Avenue, according to a release from the department, where they found an adult man who had been shot. He was taken to University of Louisville Hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later reported dead on Jan. 31.
The victim was identified by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office as 35-years-old Andrew E. Valdez from Jeffersonville, Indiana.
LMPD's homicide unit is handling the case, according to the release, and all parties are believed to be accounted for.
Kenneth Maier
A man was pronounced dead on Jan. 26 after LMPD officers found him shot in Louisville's Irish Hill neighborhood.
Fifth Division officers responded to a call about a shooting just before 4 p.m. in the 500 block of Cooper Street where they found a man shot, LMPD spokesperson Alicia Smiley said. She said man was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS officers.
Smiley said the department's homicide unit was investigating the incident. In February, LMPD said a 14-year-old juvenile had been arrested and charged in the case.
The victim was identified on Jan. 30 by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office as 51-year-old Kenneth Maier.
Man charged with domestic violence murder over shooting
A woman was killed in a shooting on Jan. 24 and a man has been charged with domestic violence murder in the aftermath, according to LMPD.
Sixth Division officers responded to a report of a shooting at about 6:30 p.m. in the 3300 block of Breckenridge Lane, a release from the department said. A woman who had been shot was found at the scene and was taken to University of Louisville Hospital, where she was pronounced dead that night.
Brendan L. Bell, 21, was charged with domestic violence murder and receiving stolen property (firearm) in the immediate aftermath of the shooting, a separate LMPD release said. Bell was the boyfriend of the victim, police said. His arrest citation was not immediately available.
The woman who was killed has not yet been identified by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office.
Man dies 2 weeks after Woodgate Lane shooting
A man injured in a shooting in early January near Klondike and Buechel died two weeks later on Jan. 24, according to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office.
Sixth Division LMPD officers initially responded to a call about a shooting at about 7:15 a.m. on Jan. 10 in the 4400 block of Woodgate Lane, the department said at the time. An adult male who had been shot was taken to the hospital at that time with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.
According to a release from the Jefferson County Coroner's Office, though, the man who was shot was pronounced dead just before 2 a.m. on Jan. 24. He was identified by the office as 42-year-old Timothy Greer.
LMPD is investigating and no arrests have been announced.
Marcus Cambron
A man died following a shooting on Baxter Avenue on the evening of Jan. 15, police said.
LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said police were dispatched to the 900 block of Baxter Avenue at around 5 p.m. Officers found a man there who had been shot.
He was taken to the University of Louisville Hospital where he later died.
The Jefferson County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as Marcus Cambron.
Mitchell said all suspects in the case have been identified.
Javarius Hendrix
A 14-year-old boy was killed in a shooting on Brentwood Avenue on Jan. 15, according to a report from LMPD.
Officers were called to the 900 block of Brentwood Avenue at around 3 p.m. on the report of a shooting, LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said. The boy received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Jefferson County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as Javarius Hendrix.
Mitchell said officials have suspects in the case, but did not offer additional details.
Two dead on Vermont Avenue
Two adult males died after suffering gunshot wounds after police responded to a report of a shooting Tuesday evening, according to Aaron Ellis, a spokesperson for LMPD.
Officers located the two men in the 3100 block of Vermont Ave., and one was pronounced dead on the scene, Ellis said. The other man was taken to the University of Louisville Hospital, where he "succumbed from his injures shortly after arriving," according to police.
A juvenile on the scene was taken to the university hospital as well, and Ellis said their injuries appear non-life-threatening.
Detectives are canvassing the area, police said. There are no suspects at this time.
Adult female found dead on Sale Avenue
An adult female was found dead on the scene after suffering gunshot wounds just after midnight on Sunday morning on the 1400 block of Sale Avenue, according to Aaron Ellis, a spokesperson for LMPD.
The Louisville Metro Police Department was responding to gunfire elsewhere, and as they were doing so, a ShotSpotter and call for shooting came in, Ellis said. ShotSpotter is a gunshot detection program.
There are currently no suspects, police said.
Fatal shooting in Taylor Berry
A woman was shot and killed shortly after midnight Jan. 8 in the Taylor Berry neighborhood, LMPD officials said.
Officers heard gunfire while on patrol and soon responded to the shooting in the 1400 block of Sale Avenue. There, they found a woman who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman has not been identified, and police have not named any suspects.
Mitchell Eddings
A man was killed in a shooting just before 1 a.m. Jan. 6 in Parkland, according to LMPD.
LMPD officers responded to the shooting in the 1000 block of S. 26th Street, according to department spokesperson Aaron Ellis. A man who had been shot was found inside a vehicle at the scene, where he was pronounced dead.
The man who was killed was identified by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office later that morning as 69-year-old Mitchell Eddings.
No suspects have been named.
Paul A. Turner
Louisville's sixth homicide of the year was reported on Jan. 3 following a shooting in southwestern Louisville.
Third Division officers responded to a call about a shooting at about 4:45 p.m., according to department spokesperson Aaron Ellis, in the 8300 block of Arnoldtown Road. A man who had been shot was found on the scene – he was taken by EMS to University of Louisville Hospital, Ellis said, where he was later pronounced dead.
LMPD's homicide unit is investigating and Ellis said all parties involved have been accounted for.
The man who was killed was later identified by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office as 42-year-old Paul A. Turner.
Jeremiah Buckner
First Division officers responded to a call about a shooting at about 1:20 p.m. that Tuesday near Esquire Alley and Roy Wilkins Avenue. At the scene they found an adult man who had been shot and was pronounced dead on site, according to LMPD spokesperson Aaron Ellis.
The department's homicide unit is investigating and no suspects have been publicly identified.
The man who was killed was later identified by the Jefferson County Coroner's office as 42-year-old Jeremiah Buckner.
Overnight homicide in Parkland
LMPD officers are investigating a homicide that took place in the early morning hours of Jan. 3, the fourth fatal shooting of the year in Louisville.
Second Division officers responded to the call in the 2700 block of W. Kentucky Street at about 2 a.m., according to department spokesperson Aaron Ellis, where they found an adult woman who had been shot. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
LMPD's homicide unit is investigating. No suspects have been arrested.
The woman who was killed has not yet been identified.
Dorion Tisby
A man died Jan. 2 after being found shot about 12:05 a.m. in the 400 block of East Oak Street in Shelby Park. LMPD spokesman Dwight Mitchell said 4th Division officers found the man severely injured after responding to a call and he was transported to University of Louisville Hospital in critical condition.
Mitchell said shortly after 10 a.m. that the man had died. He was later identified as 24-year-old Dorion Tisby.
On Feb. 8, court records show 19-year-old Lloyd Mason was arrested and charged with murder in the case. In his arrest citation, he was accused by LMPD of crashing a car into an LMPD vehicle and being apprehended after fleeing the scene. Several weapons were found in the car that matched shell casings that were found at the scene of the shooting, according to the citation.
Diunta Cross
A man was found shot in the early morning of Jan. 2, and he later succumbed to his injuries.
LMPD officers responded to the 1600 block of Beechwood Avenue at 1:30 a.m., where they found a man who was shot. He was transported to University of Louisville Hospital, where he later died, police said.
The man who was killed was later identified by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office as 36-year-old Diunta Cross.
On Jan. 16, LMPD said in an email that 35-year-old Naji Lee Hughes, who also goes by Lee Hughes, had been arrested and charged with murder over the shooting. He's pleaded not guilty, according to court records.

Louisville's first homicide of the year was reported on the first night of the year.
Second Division LMPD officers responded to a report of a shooting at 9:15 p.m. Jan. 1 in the 1800 block of W. Gaulbert Avenue, Mitchell said. Officers on the scene found a man who had been shot multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene and later identified by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office as Reginald Speight, 28.
