MSU research scholar bags PM fellowship for doctoral research
Vadodara: Ami Ghanshyambhai Patel, a research scholar of M S University has been awarded Prime Minister’s fellowship for doctoral research.
The fellowship is a public-private partnership between the Science & Engineering Research Board and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). It aims to improve the quality of research in various higher education institutions across the country.
Patel’s project — ‘Formulation development, optimization and evaluation of novel drug delivery system of anti-migraine drugs’ — is aimed to improve therapeutic efficacy and reduce side effects of antimigraine drugs by formulating them into novel nano-lipid based systems for the effective treatment of migraine.
Patel is working under the guidance of professor Krutika Khanderao Sawant, dean of Faculty of Pharmacy.
She is the only candidate from the field of pharmacy to receive this fellowship, which is the maximum government fellowship in the country at any academic and research institute.
This year, 23 students of institutes like IIT, CSIR, BITS Pilani, ICT Mumbai among others have received the Prime Minister’s fellowship.
