Awareness created on conservation
Mangaluru: To create awareness among children on wildlife conservation, the city-based NGO, Centre for Integrated Learning (CIL), celebrated International Leopard Day and conducted an interactive session on ‘All About Wildlife With Prasamsha,’ at Pilikula Nisargadhama on Wednesday.
While interacting with children, wildlife biologist and scientific officer at Pilikula, Prasamsha Bhandary, highlighted the reasons for the reduction in the population of wild species, and stressed the need for sustained efforts to conserve wildlife.
She said: “Greater awareness and educating the public on different aspects of maintaining the ecological balance are the need of the hour. Children can also contribute by learning about different animal species and their role in our ecosystem.”
Prasamsha also took the children, from different schools, as part of the CIL Leadership Camp, around the park, and explained the role of the zoo in wildlife conservation.
International Leopard Day is celebrated every year on May 3, to create awareness about how vulnerable the species is in the changing times globally.
