KOLKATA: A 25-year-old film technician died after being allegedly stabbed by a friend during a drunken brawl at Dinesh Nagar in Bansdroni on Monday night.
The victim, Prasenjit Das, a resident of South Anandapally in Bansdroni, used to work at multiple studios in Tollygunge. The accused, Kaushik Barui (27), a resident of Sonali Park, has been arrested.
Das, an electrician, who worked on different TV and film sets, was surfing through the photos of a woman on social media when Barui - with whom he was drinking - objected. Both of them knew the woman. "On May 1, while returning from work at a local mineral water factory, the accused met his the victim and his two other friends near a school in Dinesh Nagar.
The four were drinking near Khudiram Park. After a brawl, the accused stabbed Das on his chest with a knife. He was taken to MR Bangur Hospital where he died later," said joint CP (crime) Shankha Subhra Chakrabarty. Two others who were present at the time of the incident have been detained for questioning.
