Kannadigas must support regional parties: Gowda
Mysuru: JD(S) supremo HD Deve Gowda on Wednesday stated that people of Karnataka must follow the Tamil Nadu model and support regional parties to safeguard their interests.
In Tami Nadu, both Congress and BJP are not strong as people support only two regional parties. Kannadigas must also learn from them to safeguard the state's interest in crucial matters, he said.
Addressing an election rally at Bannur, he urged the people to vote the JD(S) to power based on its previous achievements and assurances for the future after coming to power. He also stated that Kumaraswamy is the only CM who waived farm loan. “We are confident that the party will return to power to continue the social service,” he said.
He also took a dig at former CM Siddaramaiah saying that those who betrayed the party will never succeed in their political career. “It is a tragedy that a leader whom I nurtured, today is talking badly about me and hurting me,” he said.
“It is JD(S) which introduced reservations for women, people from Valmiki community and Muslims. We resolved the Idgah ground controversy in Hubballi. Today, because of the efforts of JD(S), a lot of areas in Karnataka are irrigated,” Gowda said.
“When Chandrashekar was the prime minister, I begged him to provide reservation for Valmiki community,” the former PM said. He urged the voters to ensure the victory of JD(S) candiadtes to ensure that HD Kumaraswamy will become CM on May 13.
