Kanpur: As many as 438 government employees who are deployed in Urban Local Body (ULB) elections used their voting right at the Government Polytechnic in Rawatpur area of the city on Wednesday.
As per the information, the employees had cast their votes for the mayoral and the corporator's election through postal ballots. Similarly, 19 and 9 votes respectively were cast by the employees for election of chairman and members of Ghatampur and Bilhaur municipal councils respectively. Four and five employees used their voting rights to elect chairman and members of nagar panchayat Bithoor and Shivrajpur respectively.
Though voting for election of mayor and corporators will be held on May 11 in the city, around 409 employees, working as election workers, had cast their votes on Monday.
Judicial Tehsildar apprised that during their training period the election workers had been asked to cast their votes through ballot papers, the tehsildar said. Meanwhile, around 3000 officials and employees who have been deputed in election duty are being trained by master trainers.
District election office announced the list of seven city magistrates including additional district magistrate (city) for granting permission for opening election offices, taking out processions or organizing a rally or meeting.
As per the notification, ADM City will give permission to the contestants of mayoral election, additional city magistrates and SDM Sadar for corporator's elections while SDMs Ghatampur and Bilhaur have been empowered to grant permission to the contestants of chairman and members election.
