Mysuru: Former minister and Congress candidate for the Narasimharaja segment Tanveer Sait on Tuesday accused the BJP government of derailing development projects in the segment as it has not released the funds for the sanctioned projects.
Participating in the interaction hosted by the Mysuru District Journalists Association with the three candidates of the Narasimharaja segment, Sait said he has initiated a lot of development project to improve the living conditions of his constituents but a few projects are stalled since the state government has not released adequate funds.
Sait also said that a few of the schemes announced by the Congress government had been discontinued by the BJP-led state government which had caused inconvenience to the people. Sait mentioned that about 20,000 houses were built in 20 years for the homeless.
People of the constituency have been supporting the Sait family over the past few decades which will continue, he added.
BJP candidate S Sateesh (Sandesh Swamy), who was former mayor, said that the constituency lacks basic facilities such as transport, educational institutions, drinking water, roads and shelter for the homeless. Sait had failed to develop the constituency despite representing it for more than 20 years, Sateesh stated. He also mentioned that a lot of funds had been released for the development of the constituency but the funds were not utilised. He said the segment lacks medical facilities. He said youths in the constituency were getting into anti-social activities and narcotics, which had increased criminal activities.

He also said that medical facilities would be extended to senior citizens at their homes, and added that offices will be opened at various temples, mosques and churches located in the constituency to address the problems faced by the people and also to educate people about various welfare schemes and programmes announced by the government.
